Prague, May 5 (EFE).- About 10,000 people protested on Tuesday in Prague against the populist and ultranationalist government’s plan to make public broadcasting funding dependent on the state budget rather than viewer fees, a change that the broadcaster itself believes will undermine its independence. The protest, which began in Old Town Square and proceeded in a festive atmosphere through the center of the capital to the headquarters of Czech Radio, was organized by the NGO “A Million Moments for Democracy” and had the slogan “Hands off the media.”CAMERA: MARTIN DIVISEK.FOOTAGE: SCENES FROM THE PROTEST IN PRAGUE AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT’S PLAN FOR FUNDING PUBLIC BROADCASTING.
