Tokyo, May 6 (EFE).- Studio Ghibli, the Japanese animation giant behind beloved classics such as "My Neighbor Totoro," "Spirited Away," and "The Boy and the Heron," was honored on Wednesday with the 2026 Princess of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities. Founded in 1985 by illustrator Hayao Miyazaki and his close friend Isao Takahata, the studio was established to challenge industry norms and focus on auteur-driven cinema.
