Colombo, Jul 17 (EFE/EPA).- Hundreds of civil rights activists marched through Colombo on Thursday, calling for accountability and justice after the recent excavation of the Chemmani mass grave in Sri Lanka’s Jaffna peninsula revealed dozens of new skeletons.First exposed in 1998–99 by a soldier’s testimony, the site initially revealed 15 bodies. Renewed excavations in June–July 2025 have uncovered 65 more skeletons, including infants. Sri Lanka ended a decades-long civil war after the Sri Lankan military defeated the Tamil Tiger rebels in May 2009.
