Talavera de la Reina, Spain, Mar 21 (EFE).- Authorities in Spain said on Saturday that work to restore the historic Puente Viejo, which partially collapsed a year ago after heavy rains, could begin “as soon as possible” once a technical report is completed. The bridge, dating back to the 13th century and listed as a cultural heritage site, suffered the collapse of two sections in March 2025 due to flooding of the Tagus river following weeks of intense rainfall.Officials said the technical assessment is in its final phase and will serve as the basis for a reconstruction project aimed at restoring the structure and preventing future damage.
