Smoke and ash from a forest fire in Méntrida (Toledo) reaches Madrid city

Guadalajara/Toledo, July 17 (EFE) - Air and ground resources are battling a forest fire that broke out on Thursday in the municipality of Méntrida (Toledo), whose smoke and ash have reached the capital city of Madrid.

According to the Forest Fire Information System of the Regional Ministry of Sustainable Development (Fidias), consulted by EFE, the fire in Méntrida was detected at 3:02 p.m. by a permanent fire watcher, and the Castilla-La Mancha Forest Fire Prevention and Extinction Service has moved to Operational Level 1, as smoke from the fire may hinder visibility on nearby roads.
