Protesters accuse authorities of silencing water rights campaign near Mexico City Stadium

Mexico City, Jun 16 (EFE).- Activists and residents living near Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium on Tuesday accused authorities of trying to “erase” their demands for access to water and the protection of their territory after a community mural was removed near the venue set to host matches during the 2026 World Cup.

At a news conference held steps from the stadium, members of the Anti-World Cup Assembly denounced what they described as a “trend of visual erasure” targeting protests linked to preparations for the tournament in the southern part of the Mexican capital. (Camera: JETZAEL MOLINA).
