Paris, Mar 20 (EFE).- A surgical operation that nearly cost French painter Henri Matisse his life gave him, from 1941 onward, a renewed creative impulse that led to the most prolific and uninhibited period of his career until his death in Nice in 1954 at the age of 84.This late period, considered by experts as the peak of his talent, is the focus of the exhibition “Matisse 1941-1954,” opening this spring in Paris, an unprecedented show in France featuring more than 300 works, organized jointly by the Centre Pompidou, currently closed for renovations, and the Grand Palais, where it will run from March 24 to July 26.
