Málaga hosts maritime processions in honor of Virgen del Carmen

Málaga, Spain, Jul 16 (EFE).- The land and sea processions in honor of the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of sailors and fishermen, took place on Wednesday in numerous coastal towns across Andalusia, where this summer celebration is lived with great devotion. Along the coasts of Málaga, Granada, Cádiz, Huelva and Almería, processions in honor of the Virgen del Carmen were held this afternoon—most of them beginning on foot and then continuing at sea, with the image of the Virgin carried on a boat, accompanied by other vessels and watched by crowds filling Andalusian beaches.
