Kandahar seeks to increase production to reduce reliance on oil imports

Kandahar, Afghanistan, Apr 22 (EFE/EPA).- Kandahar has emerged as a strategic hub for Afghanistan’s edible oil industry, now hosting 30 cottonseed oil factories with an annual production of 50,000 to 60,000 tons.

Three of these facilities have already reached international quality standards, signaling a shift toward global competitiveness.

Officials emphasize that expanding local production is a critical step in reducing the nation's reliance on expensive imports and achieving long-term self-sufficiency in the sector. (Camera: QUDRATULLAH RAZWAN).
