IRAN WAR LEBANON

Hezbollah supporters celebrate the first day of Ashura commemorations in Beirut

Beirut, June 17 (EFE/EPA).- The Lebanese Shia community is marking the start of Ashura, one of the main religious observances in Shia Islam, two days after the signing of the peace agreement between the United States and Iran, while Israel continues its airstrikes on southern Lebanon.

Amid an atmosphere marked by displacement, destruction, and skepticism about the region's future, black flags once again hang from building facades, and husseiniyas—buildings specifically designed for Shia religious ceremonies—open their doors to the faithful.
