INDIA CENSUS

On foot and in the middle of mountains, the census continues in Indian territory

Ladakh (India), June 4 (EFE/EPA).- On foot and amidst mountains, this is how government officials continue their work with India's National Census in the Jammu and Kashmir region, and part of the Union Territory of Ladakh.

A total of 667,517 households in Jammu and Kashmir and 7,009 households in the Union Territory of Ladakh completed the self-enumeration before the start of housing enumeration operations.

The National Census is the first step to correct a discrepancy that kept about 100 million citizens out of official records and access to food subsidies after fifteen years of statistical void.
