CHOWK DONGRI, India, Jun 3 (EFE).- Fishing boats remained anchored and covered with tarpaulins near Chowk Dongri Village on the outskirts of Mumbai as fishermen suspended operations for the annual monsoon season.Local fishing communities stop fishing from June 1 to July 31 due to rough sea conditions, strong winds and heavy rainfall associated with the southwest monsoon, which can cause serious damage to boats and equipment. The seasonal halt is a long-standing practice along India's western coast aimed at protecting fishermen and preserving marine resources during one of the year's most challenging weather periods.
