Quito, June 16 (EFE).- Ecuador and Japan signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday to establish the Economic and Trade Committee, which aims to strengthen economic cooperation, promote bilateral trade, and boost investment, as well as facilitate dialogue with a view toward a potential trade agreement.CAMERA: JUAN FRANCISCO CHÁVEZ.STATEMENTS BY LUIS ALBERTO JARAMILLO, MINISTER OF PRODUCTION.TRANSLATION:1. “Another step—a key and decisive step—in the ongoing process between Korea and Japan toward reaching a free trade and investment agreement.” 2. "Japan is one of the world’s most important economies, a high-value-added market, and a great opportunity for our products—not only our traditional products, but also non-traditional ones, including traditional products with innovative, value-added packaging. In fact, the country already benefits from Japanese investments in key sectors such as shrimp and broccoli." 3. “Japan is an important source of technology for Ecuador in industrial machinery, agricultural machinery, construction equipment, and automobiles.”
