Women in Kabul build new paths through work
KABUL (Afghanistan), 06/05/2026.- Anita works at a female-led ice cream production company in Kabul, Afghanistan, 05 May 2026 (issued 06 May 2026). Founded by entrepreneur Asma Sharifi, the small business employs around 10 women and produces up to 6,000 ice creams daily, providing income opportunities amid restrictions on women's education and employment in Afghanistan. Anita says she initially joined the company to stay occupied, but the experience inspired her to dream of establishing her own ice cream business and creating jobs for other women.
