Women in Kabul build new paths through work
KABUL (Afghanistan), 06/05/2026.- Shukria Saadat works at a female-led ice cream production company in Kabul, Afghanistan, 05 May 2026 (issued 06 May 2026). Founded by entrepreneur Asma Sharifi four years ago, the small business employs around 10 women and produces up to 6,000 ice creams daily, providing income opportunities amid restrictions on women’s education and employment in Afghanistan. Saadat, who says she was forced to leave school after education restrictions were imposed, says the work has helped her regain hope and inspired her to one day establish her own workshop for women.
