Three patients with suspected hantavirus evacuated from cruise ship in Cape Verde
Praia (Cape Verde), 06/05/2026.- An ambulance carrying one of the three passengers suspected of having hantavirus on the Dutch cruise ship MV Hondius, drives from the port in Praia, Cape Verde, 06 May 2026, on its way to the International Airport Nelson Mandela on the island of Santiago. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), three suspected hantavirus case patients have been evacuated from the ship, anchored off the coast of Praia, and are on their way to receive medical care in the Netherlands in coordination with WHO.
