Three patients with suspected hantavirus evacuated from cruise ship in Cape Verde
Praia (Cape Verde), 06/05/2026.- An air ambulance waits at Nelson Mandela International Airport for three passengers from the Dutch cruise ship MV Hondius, to be evacuated to the Netherlands, on the island of Santiago, Cape Verde, 06 May 2026. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), three suspected hantavirus case patients have been evacuated from the ship, anchored off the coast of Praia, and are on their way to receive medical care in the Netherlands in coordination with WHO.
