Tenth Anniversary of Brussels terrorist attacks on 22 March 2016

BRUSSELS (Belgium), 20/03/2026.- (FILE) - A man looks at flowers near the entrance to Maalbeek subway station in Brussels, Belgium, 30 March 2016 (reissued 20 March 2026). Brussels was struck by coordinated suicide bombings on 22 March 2016, claimed by the so called Islamic State. Two blasts detonated in the departure hall of Zaventem airport and a third at Maelbeek metro station in the EU quarter, killing 32 people and injuring more than 300 others. In the aftermath, Belgium raised its terror alert to the highest level and tightened security measures. The attacks also fed a wave of anti-Islam sentiment and far-right protests in Belgium and Europe. (Terrorista, Protestas, Bélgica, Bruselas) EFE/EPA/OLIVIER HOSLET
