International Nelson Mandela Day on 18 July
CAPE TOWN (South Africa), 16/07/2025.- (FILE) - Former South African President Nelson Mandela holds the Olympic Torch as he stands in the courtyard of the prison on Robben Island, off Cape Town, South Africa, 12 June 2004 (reissued 16 July 2025). The United Nations declared the 18th of July International Nelson Mandela Day to honor his legacy of peace, human rights, and service to others. 2015 UN also extended the scope to promote humane conditions of imprisonment and to value the work of prison staff as social services.
