Hezbollah supporters mark the first day of Ashura commemorations in Beirut

Shiite Muslims across the world are observing the holy month of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, which culminates with the celebration of the Ashura festival, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, a grandson of the Prophet Muhammad.
