Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) Landmine removal activist in Paju

PAJU (Korea, Republic Of), 18/06/2026.- South Koreans Ahn Mi-jae (L), 74, and Lee Hyung-il (R), 65, who both survived landmine explosions while farming near the civilian control line at ages 57 and 24 respectively, speak during an interview in the border village of Haemaru-chon near the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) in Paju, South Korea, 17 June 2026 (Issued 18 June 2026). Former South Korean soldier Kim Ki-ho has spent more than two decades working alone to remove millions of landmines left along the border since the Korean War (1950–53).
