Calin Georgescu's trial begins in Bucharest
Bucharest (Romania), 17/03/2026.- Supporters of former presidential candidate Calin Georgescu protest outside the District 1 Courthouse during the first hearing in Georgescu's trial, in Bucharest, Romania, 17 March 2026. Georgescu has been under investigation and 'judicial control' for over a year for allegedly conspiring to overturn the 2024 election annulment. He is accused of actions against the constitutional order, public incitement, initiation of a fascist organization, and false statements regarding the sources of electoral campaign financing.
